Taste of the Nation...Gluttony at its best.

My Thursday night started at the Aragon Ballroom in uptown baby, uptown baby...It was the Taste of the Nation event for charity where over 40 chefs and mixologists all feed the fuck out of you. The theme was street food. I didnt want to be "that" guy and take a photo of every single thing I ate, but rest assured I ate and drank well.

Someone left feeling insecure. I would feel like shit if nobody wanted to eat my free sorbet.

So the Aragon has a room you enter before you reach the bathroom. My guess is that back in the day, this room served as the vomitorium/orgy/shit and piss openly room.

Edwin Morales on the 1 and 2's

Graham Eliot and brewer Jared Rouben (Goose Island Clybourn) discussing how to properly cop a feel.

Did I mention that I did all of the chalk slats? Well I did and it was cool to see all of the restaurants use my shit son! Dale Levitski of Top Chef fame offered a poached octopus thing. Not bad...not great.

Crowd shot. I felt like I was at some gay Mexican villa with the kind of cheesy indoor roof and "fiesta" lighting.

So it was hot as pig's anus in here...cooking, people, no A/C...better drink a ton of beer.

Shit was madness. Just imagine beer, wine, cocktails, food, desserts, and chefs all over the place looking to put shit in your mouth. It was pretty intense and a little overwhelming at times. I just went all in and ate and drank everything I could.

The after party was right upstairs for the VIP peeps. I don't know if I was or not, I just went up stairs for more beer and wanted to steal some glassware, thank you Leffe Blonde! I love seeing the breakdown of these events because of the precision and organization of these workers. It's really a site to see almost as if there wasn't an event here to begin with.

So when it was all said and done, I drunkenly walked over to Jewels to get my culinary skills on by popping open TWO, yeah TWO cans of different soup and combining them. I'm a genius I know.

Some of the highlights from the night were the 40 day aged steak from David Burke's Primehouse, Stephanie Izard's braised goat dish, Rick Bayless's braised pork taco, L2O's jalepeno sorbet with peeky toe crab ceviche, Spiaggia's sandwich thing, Bill Kim's sausage (no homo), the gastrowagon naan wich, 3 Floyds jinxproof, Goose Island's Grahampagne (chef collabo)...Chunky soup minestrone, Campbell's tomato basil.
